'Barrels' of ....

So many barrel jokes. Barrels of Laughs, Barrels of Monkeys, Barrels of ....Wine! Yes, indeed!

Some time ago when Lauren Brown was visiting, we went to Trevor Jones Estates in Lyndoch to taste some wines. On exiting I spotted some half wine barrels. Perfect! A nice side project.

So over the last few weeks I have sanded the barrel down, cleaned it (there was a significant amount of red wine gunk/residue inside), and oiled it.

Finally, yesterday, I filled it with potting mix (100 litres!), transplanted our new ficus from pot to barrel, and planted some chives and coriander. We hope to add to our herb collection in the barrel soon.
